  • Permits like TIMS help locate you in case of medical emergencies like rescue evacuation during your trek.

  • Permits help with overcrowding of trekkers by recording the total number of trekkers trekking at a certain time.

List of Required Permits for Everest Region Trekking

To trek to the Everest region, two main permits are required: TIMS and the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit.

If you are planning to take the Jiri to EBC route, then you will need a Gaurishankar Conservation Area Permit. Our team representatives will get this permit for you in Kathmandu from the Nepal Tourism Board.

Here is a breakdown of some of the major permits required for your trek to the Everest region.

Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS)

Trekkers’ information management system is a permit card that is designed to maintain a proper record of the individuals who trek to the Everest region.

In the past, it was very difficult to conduct rescue operations as it was hard to keep a record of the missing trekkers due to a lack of information on the trekkers.

Thus, the Nepal Tourism Board established the TIMS entry permit card to keep information regarding all the trekkers in case of emergencies.

The cost of the Trekkers Information Management System card is NPR 2,000. But if you are travelling from SAARC countries, it will cost you NPR 1,000.
