    Accommodation

Accommodations during the Gokyo Valley Trek with EBC are included in the package. Our first priority when selecting accommodations is the trekker's safety and comfort. The accommodations during the trek are normally teahouses. The majority of these teahouses are on a twin-sharing basis, and our guides will assign accommodations based on gender. If you're a couple or prefer individual rooms within a group, kindly notify us before the trek, and we will arrange the necessary accommodations to suit your preferences.

The journey typically begins in Kathmandu, where trekkers often stay in a comfortable 3-star hotel or a similar standard of accommodation before flying to Lukla to commence the trek.

Accommodations along the route consist of teahouses, which are basic but cozy lodges that provide warm shelter and meals. In the Everest Base Camp area, teahouses offer a range of services, including simple rooms with twin beds and shared bathrooms. While the facilities are more basic compared to urban settings, they provide the necessary comfort for trekkers in the remote Himalayan terrain.

The bathrooms in teahouses are typically shared, and the amenities are basic. Commonly, you'll find squat toilets and cold water showers. Despite the basic facilities, the warmth of the local hospitality and the awe-inspiring natural beauty make the Gokyo Valley trek with EBC accommodation a truly unforgettable experience.

In the case of accommodation upgrade

    Private Room

If you want a private room during your trip, inform us before the trek so we can arrange accordingly. But sometimes, because of limited space, it might not be possible to get a private room, especially if you want to stay above Lobuche. But we will make sure you have a good place in town to stay throughout the trek. (Extra cost applied.)

    Upgrade Hotel

To upgrade your hotel in Kathmandu or lodges in Everest, contact us or mention while booking the trek to use our Addons to upgrade your room. (Extra cost applied.)

    Food

Along the trek, you'll be provided hearty and wholesome meals prepared by local chefs at the lodges and teahouses. Typical dishes include Dal Bhat (lentil soup with rice), noodles, potatoes, and various meats. The food is designed to provide energy for trekking and is included in the trekking package. Special dietary requirements can often be accommodated with advance notice.

There are other Western alternatives offered, including spaghetti, pizza, and burgers. However, as the altitude increases and you ascend higher, such Western foods are limited or not available in higher altitude places. You will only get basic food like dal bhat when you ascend to a higher altitude.

There will be an abundance of delectable cuisine available for you to enjoy on your Gokyo Valley Trek with Everest, regardless of your budget or dietary requirements. Once you finish the trek and return to Kathmandu, we will host you a farewell dinner with delicious cuisines to celebrate the success of your trek.

    Altitude Sickness

Acute mountain sickness (AMS), another name for altitude sickness, is a common illness that occurs to hikers on the EBC with Gokyo Valley Trek. The symptoms, which include headaches, exhaustion, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, arise from the body's inability to adapt to the thin air at high elevations.

The best defense against altitude sickness is appropriate acclimatization, which entails a multi-day ascent to higher elevations. This enables your body to adapt to the drop in oxygen saturation. Despite that, drinking enough water and avoiding alcohol and caffeine during your Everest with Gokyo Valley Trek will also help.

    Difficulty

All ages and fitness levels can successfully finish the demanding but achievable trek to Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Valley. Although the journey is not technically challenging, it does demand a desire to acclimate to the high altitude and an acceptable level of fitness.

The altitude is the primary challenge in the trek to Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Valley. Beginning at about 2,800 meters (9,200 feet), the walk ascends to 5,364 meters (17,598 feet), the location of Everest Base Camp. This implies that throughout the course of the hike, hikers will need to climb more than 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) of height.

A typical issue while trekking in Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp is altitude sickness. Despite altitude sickness, the cold weather and rough terrain can also be major challenges on your way. However, with the right amount of carefulness and planning before trekking, such difficulties can be minimized.

    Important Note

Here are some useful tips that will surely help you prepare before and after your Gokyo Trek with Everest Base Camp.

    • Adequate acclimatization is crucial; listen to your body and follow your guide's advice.
    • Stay hydrated and consume safe drinking water.
    • Listen to your body during the trek and if you notice any symptoms of altitude sickness, make sure to inform your guide about it.
