Foods

The food along the Everest Circuit Trek is wholesome and filling, designed to provide the necessary energy for trekking in high altitudes. Traditional Nepali cuisine is a staple, with dishes like dal bhat (lentil soup, rice, and vegetables), momos (Nepalese dumplings), and tsampa (roasted barley flour) being widely available. These dishes are typically served with a variety of chutneys and pickles, adding flavor and spice. Also, at big villages like Namche, you are treated with international menu items like spaghetti, pizza.

Accommodation

Our Everest Cicuit Trek package includes accommodation as well. Our primary concern when choosing accommodations is the trekkers' safety and comfort. Teahouses are common places to stay throughout the trek. The majority of these teahouses are on a twin-sharing basis, and our guides will assign accommodation based on gender. If you are a couple or prefer individual rooms within a group, inform us before the trek, and we will make the necessary arrangements to accommodate your needs.

The Everest Circuit Trek begins in Kathmandu, where trekkers typically stay in a 3-star hotel or similar accommodation. These hotels offer comfortable rooms with basic amenities to ensure a pleasant stay before starting the  trek.

As trekkers move along the Everest Circuit, you stay in teahouses along the trail. Teahouses are simple lodges that offer accommodation and meals to trekkers. While the facilities vary, teahouses generally provide basic and clean rooms with twin beds, blankets, and sometimes electric blankets to combat the cold. Rooms are often shared, and private rooms may be available for an additional cost.

In terms of bathrooms in teahouses, the facilities are basic but functional. Most teahouses have shared bathrooms with squat toilets. Hot showers may be available, but it's common for them to come at an extra cost. Due to the remote nature of the trek, facilities are more rustic, and it's essential for trekkers to be prepared for simpler amenities.

In the case of accommodation upgrade

Private Room

If you want a private room during your trek, inform us before the trek so we can arrange accordingly. But sometimes, because of limited space, it might not be possible to get a private room, especially if you want to stay above Lobuche. But we will make sure you have a good place in town to stay throughout the Everest Circuit Trek. (Extra cost applied.)

Upgrade Hotel

To upgrade your hotel in Kathmandu or lodges in Everest, contact us or mention while booking the trek to use our Addons to upgrade your room. (Extra cost applied.)

Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness, also known as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), poses a significant risk to trekkers, particularly when ascending rapidly without adequate acclimatization. Skipping recommended acclimatization days or ascending too quickly heightens susceptibility to AMS. Importantly, it does not discriminate based on age, gender, or fitness level; even physically fit individuals are not immune. Those who have previously experienced it may be more prone to it in subsequent trips. While the overall death rate it causes is relatively low, severe cases can result in fatalities. The risk intensifies notably at altitudes surpassing 2,500 meters (8,200 feet). Recognizing the importance of gradual acclimatization, adhering to recommended ascent rates, being vigilant about symptoms, and listening to your experienced guide are crucial measures to deal with it. Our team has guides with each for more than 5+years and has years of experience dealing with clients who had Altitude Sickness so, we got your back !

Difficulty

The Everest Circuit Trek  covers approximately 79 kilometers (49 miles) round trip, with daily walking distances ranging from 4 to 11 kilometers. As you ascend to altitudes above 5,000 meters (16,404 feet), the oxygen levels decrease significantly, typically ranging between 75% and 85% at Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters or 17,598 feet). The weather in the Everest region can be unpredictable, with cold temperatures and the possibility of snow, adding to the overall challenge. It's crucial to be prepared for changing weather conditions. Altitude sickness is a real concern at higher elevations, though the overall death rate is low. Still, trekkers should be aware of the risks and prioritize safety by acclimatizing properly and paying attention to symptoms. It can be called a moderate trek

Best Season

The best time for the Everest Circuit Trek is during the pre-monsoon (spring) and post-monsoon (autumn) seasons. Spring (March to May) offers clear skies, blooming rhododendrons, and mild temperatures. Autumn (September to November) features stable weather conditions and excellent visibility. These seasons provide ideal trekking conditions with comfortable temperatures and lower chances of rainfall or snow.

How should I train for the altitude and changing weather conditions during the trek?

Training for altitude involves gradual exposure to higher elevations and practicing controlled breathing. Simulating the trek's conditions through uphill walking, especially on uneven terrain, is beneficial. Training in varied weather conditions prepares you for the changing climate. Endurance training, including cardio exercises and strength training, will enhance your overall readiness for the trek.

How can I mentally prepare for the challenges of the trek, including altitude and changing environments?

Mental preparation is crucial for the challenges of the trek. Familiarize yourself with the trek itinerary and potential challenges. Practice mindfulness and stress-reducing techniques. Set realistic expectations and be flexible in adapting to changing conditions. Visualize the journey and focus on the sense of accomplishment. Engage in activities that boost mental resilience and cultivate a positive mindset for the trek.

Is there a weight limit for the Lukla flight?

The flight from Lukla has a weight limit of 15 kg (33 pounds), which includes your daypack and duffel bag. You may be required to pay an additional USD 2 to USD 5 per kilogram if your daypack weighs more than the permitted amount. Sometimes the luggage allowance is withheld even with the increased compensation. As a result, we advise you to carry no more than 15 kilograms.

Sturdy and comfortable hiking boots with ankle support are essential for the trek. Opt for waterproof and well-insulated boots to handle varied terrain and weather conditions. • Impulsive plan to Everest Circuit Trek

My decision to do the Everest Circuit Trek was very last minute and too impulsive. Some of my mates suggested Everest Base Camp Travel and I booked my circuit trek with them after searching their website. Honestly given how last minute my plans were I wasn’t expecting a very organized and well-planned trek. But, Binod and the team exceeded all of my expectations. The whole trek was thoroughly organized and nothing was kept for the last minute. I am astonished by the service provided by Everest Base Camp Travel. A huge thank you to Binod and the team, I highly recommend Everest Base Camp Travel if you all are willing to visit Nepal.

  • An amazing Gokyo Lake view during circuit trek to Everest

The overall trek was a 10/10. It was an amazing experience for me and my friends. The whole trekking experience was something new for me and Everest Base Camp Travel was there to help me throughout. It was a 19 days trek and those 19 days felt surreal. The most amazing part for me throughout the trek was day 12 when we visited Gokyo Lake.

The water was crystal clear as it reflected the blue sky above along with its surrounding Himalayas. It was an amazing experience and the best 19 days of my life. Me and my friends are craving more of the Himalayas and will surely be traveling again for more treks. I highly recommend Everest Base Camp Travel for everyone.
