Later, we will ascend through the Sherpa villages and a forest inhabited by monkeys and witness the stunning Dudh Koshi canyon while winding steeply up and down to Puiyan. Spend the night at any of the cozy lodges in the village.

The trail leads you through Lukla Airport, and you will then follow a gentle path up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. After walking for about two hours, reach Phakding village for an overnight stay. Take a stroll around the village to learn about the local culture and lifestyle.

In the daylight, witness the vertical inclination to Namche Bazaar, but it is a short march to the doorway of the national park from Monjo. The trek goes on upstream on generally flat terrain, crossing back to the right bank to the meeting point of the Bhote Kosi and Dudh Kosi Rivers. After passing a large and stable suspension bridge, gradually ascend to witness the incredible and striking prospects of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Taweche (6542m).

In Namche Bazaar, we spend a day of rest to properly acclimate to the altitude.  You can see sunrise and sunset from the national park headquarters, which is located above the settlement. The breathtaking view has breathtaking views of Everest as well as the Khumbu peaks.

Following breakfast, we have two options: walking to Thami (3810m), which is perched above the breathtaking Bhote Khola River Valley, or visiting the national park headquarters to see unusual examples of Sherpa culture and way of life. In addition, there is information on the park's flora and animals, as well as an exhibit on climbing.

                      • Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

We will walk towards the park headquarters and continue up high above the Dudh Kosi River. Higher than Namche, the path to Tengboche turns out to be noticeable with the monastery situated below the summit of Everest and bordered by other Himalayan peaks.

Spot local flora and fauna as well as the striking Danfe pheasant, often seen among the birch and silver fir forest between Shanasa and Trashinga, and Himalayan tahr, on the high ground above the trail. After reaching the reforestation nursery at Trashinga, the track slopes down abruptly until you come across the Dudh Kosi River at Phunkitenga (3250m). After lunch, you’ll then get to ascend through lush pine, fir, black juniper, and rhododendron.

                        • Attractions: Dudh Koshi River, fir forest, and rhododendron forests
                        • Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

We will ascend slowly above the Imja Khola River,  continue to the tea houses at Orsho and then bridge the river and the ancient glacial moraines on our way to our guesthouse in Dingboche town. The Lhotse-Nuptse ridge, which rises above the valley's eastern terminus, conceals Everest, which is shrouded behind the breathtaking surroundings.

                          • Attractions: view of mountains, rivers, and ancient glacial moraines
                          • Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

On this day we will relax and rejuvenate in Dingboche, a beautiful jumble of small fields surrounded by stone walls. Take in the sights of barley and potato crops protected from the chilly winds while enjoying the stunning views of the towering south face of Lhotse to the north, Island Peak in the center of the valley, and the fluted ice walls of nameless peaks lined up in the southern end of the valley.

                            • Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

As the sun rises, we embark on a trek up the small point following the village above Pheriche Valley. Take in the stunning views of Taweche, Cholatse (6440m), Lobuche Peak (6119m), and the snowfields of Cho La. Enjoy the flat terrain on wide-open fields, but don't forget to stay hydrated.

Cross the Khumbu Khola (River) at Dughla (4620m) and enjoy a light lunch at the foot of the huge terminal moraines of the Khumbu Glacier. Marvel at the fantastic view of Pumori (7145m) and, across the border in Tibet, Changtse (7550m), at the top of the valley while Everest disappears behind the gigantic walls of Nuptse and Lhotse.

                              • Attractions: mountain views, and rivers
                              • Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Today we will trek to the wide valley that is analogous to Khumbu Glacier from Lobuche. A firm way up allows you to put up a slow, steady pace required when walking at a high altitude. Make your way through the moraines of Changri Nup Glacier, where small up-and-down walks over an unsteady track lined with cairns lead to the out-of-the-blue glacial sands of Gorak Shep (5160m).

Head off towards Everest Base Camp and experience the thrill of being at the foothills of the world's highest mountain. Trek back to Gorakshep in the afternoon and enjoy an overnight stay.

Prepare to be treated to one of the most exquisite and magnificent views of the Himalayas from Kala Patthar's black rock hill, which appears to be dwarfed by the imposing peaks. To witness the dawn above the Himalayas, we go out before the sun rises.  Following our hike through the breathtaking terrain, we stop at Gorak Shep for refreshments.

After leaving the region dominated by glaciers, the Himalayas, and the lateral moraines of the glaciers, we retrace our ways to Lobuche and continue on to Pheriche. We will stay in Pheriche for the night.

                                            Accommodation

Accommodation during the Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek is included in the package. We prioritise the comfort and safety of our trekkers while selecting accommodations. The accommodations during the trek are normally teahouses. The majority of these teahouses are on a twin-sharing basis, and our guides will assign accommodations based on gender. If you're a couple or prefer individual rooms within a group, kindly notify us before the trek, and we will arrange the necessary accommodations to suit your preferences.

Starting from Kathmandu, trekkers typically stay in a 3-star hotel or a similar category of accommodation to rest and prepare for the journey. These teahouses offer comfortable rooms, basic amenities, and a chance to acclimatize to the Nepalese culture.

As you trek from Jiri to Everest Base Camp, accommodation is primarily in teahouses and basic lodges found along the trail. Teahouses provide a rustic yet cosy environment for trekkers, offering simple rooms with twin beds or dormitory-style arrangements. While the facilities may be basic, teahouses often provide warm blankets to combat the chilly mountain nights.

Regarding bathrooms in teahouses, they usually feature shared facilities with squat toilets. Hot showers may be available at an additional cost, and the availability of Western-style toilets can vary. Trekkers are advised to bring their own toiletries, including toilet paper, as these items may not always be readily available along the trekking route.

In the case of an accommodation upgrade,

                                            Private Room

If you want a private room during your trip, inform us before the trek so we can arrange accordingly. But sometimes, because of limited space, it might not be possible to get a private room, especially if you want to stay above Lobuche. But we will make sure you have a good place in town to stay throughout the Trek. (Extra cost applied.)

                                            Upgrade Hotel

To upgrade your hotel in Kathmandu or lodges in Everest, contact us or mention while booking the trek to use our Addons to upgrade your room. (Extra cost applied.)

                                            Food

During the Jiri to Everest base camp trek, we ensure to provide you with a diverse and satisfying culinary experience. The teahouses and lodges along the trail offer a range of meal options to keep trekkers energized and satisfied. For lunch and dinner, the menu typically includes a variety of dishes like dal bhat (a traditional Nepali meal with lentil soup and rice), pasta, noodles, potatoes, and fresh vegetables. As you ascend in altitude, the options may become more limited, but you'll always find nourishing and comforting meals to refuel after a day of trekking.

Plus, enjoying these meals amidst the stunning Himalayan landscapes adds an extra layer of delight to the dining experience. Altitude Sickness

Acute mountain sickness (AMS), another name for altitude sickness, is a common illness that occurs to hikers on the EBC Trek. The symptoms, which include headaches, exhaustion, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, arise from the body's inability to adapt to the thin air at high elevations.

The best defense against altitude sickness is appropriate acclimatization, which entails a multi-day ascent to higher elevations. This enables your body to adapt to the drop in oxygen saturation. Despite that, drinking enough water and avoiding alcohol and caffeine during your Jiri-to-Everest Base Camp Trek will also help.

                                            Difficulty

The trek to EBC via Jiri presents a moderate-to-challenging level of difficulty, making it suitable for trekkers with a good level of fitness and a sense of adventure. The trek involves long days of walking, with some steep ascents and descents along the way. The high-altitude terrain can be physically demanding, and it's essential to be prepared for varying weather conditions, including cold temperatures and occasional snowfall, especially at higher elevations.

Proper acclimatization is built into the itinerary to help participants adjust to the increasing altitudes gradually. While you don't need to be a professional athlete, it's advisable to engage in some physical preparation and aerobic training before embarking on this trek to ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Trekking experience is a plus, but with determination and the right preparation, adventurers of varying levels can successfully conquer this iconic trail in the heart of the Everest region.
